Bev is serving her second term on the Alumni Board. She lives on a small farm near Litchfield, IL and has been retired for the past five years. Bev previously worked at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield with 30 years in maternity and the last eight years in quality management. After retirement, she returned to work for the Illinois Hospital Association, Quality Review Division for three more years.
Bev continued her nursing education, completing both her bachelor and master degrees in nursing from Southern Illinois University. During her time in maternity, Bev was a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and served on the board of directors for eight years and as national president in 2005.
Her nursing career also gave her the opportunity to be part of a nursing educational exchange for two weeks in China in 1996 and two weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia in 2006. Her daughters were able to travel with her to Vietnam and Cambodia.
Today Bev is enjoying retirement with her husband, John, and her family. They are the proud parents of two daughters, five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. Two of her grandchildren have also become nurses. Bev continues her love for traveling and has been able to visit all 50 states as well as several other foreign countries.
Bev says her education at St. John’s gave her the best foundation for her whole nursing career. She loved being part of the compassionate culture that embraced the nursing program. She enjoys the continued contacts she has with her classmates and other alumni. She has always been proud being a NURSE!
